Child Dedication

Parents partnering with God as they raise their children

Calvary Assembly believes children are a gift from God, and we are very excited that you are interested in child dedication.

Child Dedication is an opportunity for you to actively dedicate yourself before God, to provide everything necessary for the growth of your child physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. The importance of raising your child in the discipline of Biblical principles and the instruction of the Lord is written in:

Child Dedication at Calvary Assembly in Rochester, NY
Proverbs 22:6 (NIV)
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NIV)
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Ephesians 6:4 (NIV)
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Calvary Assembly defines child dedication as the parental willingness to partner with God and the Church to raise your child. We believe dedication is not a sacrament; it cannot impart grace or salvation to your child. Salvation only comes through Jesus Christ as each person recognizes his or her sinfulness and receives forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The scriptural root for this type of dedication is found in 1 Samuel 1:27-28.

1 Samuel 1:27-28 (NIV)
I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the Lord. For his whole life he will be given over to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there.
