Yes, we are willing to work any institution’s standards to meet all necessary requirements.
No. If you need housing, we will help you find options to the best of our ability. That said, it is the intern’s responsibility to ensure they have housing for the duration of the program.
Interns are expected to participate in every aspect of this program, with a mandatory time commitment of about 20 hours a week. There is some flexibility given for vacations or family commitments. We require that the applicant presents these dates during the interview. All requests are subject to approval.
– Part – time, 20 hours per week (including Sunday)
– 8 weeks – June 16th – August 11th, 2024

Our interns should leave from their time this summer with a faith that is stronger than
what they came in with. This is a necessary life rhythm if you are to be engaged in
healthy life-long ministry.

– Though this is subjective, there are a few concrete ways to measure their spiritual
depth. During their time did they…
1. expand their view of God
2.  receive and apply practical knowledge of spiritual realities
3.  become activated in the spiritual disciplines in a new way
4.  become more able to articulate their reasoning and belief behind faith – to be able to effectively communicate how God has transformed them so they can share that with others.

As children of God, we are all made in Christ’s image with unique callings, giftings, and
abilities. Each intern will walk away from this program with important insights and
newfound self-awareness of what their Kingdom impact will be.

Not only are we meant to have a strong identity in Christ, but once they have identified who God has made them to be, they are responsible for cultivating the giftings God has given them. The skills our interns have are not just for church – they are a part of every part of their life and should be tended to with just as much care as a pro athlete would give to their sport. We must be dedicated to building skills because it expands our capacity to engage people in God’s story.

Creativity is one of the first parts of God’s nature that is revealed to us in scripture. Every single child of God is called into creativity, and the fruit that it provides in our lives is immeasurable.

Being authentic and willing to share opening about our weaknesses in order to help each other grow. God calls us to spur each other along in our faith and weaknesses, and we can only do that when we are honest with ourselves and those around us about the areas where we need encouragement and support.

SUNDAYS @Second!

Sundays are about growing in faith in Jesus. Students begin in the auditorium for worship and are released after about 20 minutes to head to our lower level. Here we connect with new friends and have a non-pressured faith conversation. The experience all together lasts about 65 minutes and we hope you leave encouraged and challenged in your spiritual journey.

The first Sunday of each month, students will stay in the auditorium for the message.

Wednesdays are the most exciting night of the week! Every week a powerful and relevant message from scripture is preached, and students are given a chance to respond to the nights message.  Wednesdays alternate between small group nights (where students and volunteers connect by playing, learning and praying together) and worship nights (where our student led band, EMBERS, lead songs of worship and praise to Jesus).

Our messages are based out of the Bible, which we believe to be God-breathed and useful for our lives today. On Wednesday nights, we learn from engaging teaching, worship with our student team, take time to pray together or individually, and reflect on how we can become closer with our God. If you have never come, we encourage you to check it out!

My name is Steven Nichols and I am the Youth Director at Calvary Assembly! I am absolutely thrilled to be in this position and to be given the chance to work with your children and help lead them to all that God has planned for them.

I live in a neighborhood in Gates where my wife, Moriah, and I purchased our first home. When I am not actively involved in our youth  ministry, I throughly enjoy reading and training in martial arts. Moriah is an extremely gifted vocalist and piano player and can make any song sound like a billboard hit. I cannot. When we go out on dates together we both enjoy exploring the surrounding area looking for a restaurant we have not tried yet, searching for the best food our city has to offer. But for us, the best day is a simple and quiet one.

Although I am still working full time as an electrician for my father’s company, I want you to know I am available for you, for your son or daughter, and to help encourage our students towards the unique calling God has for their life! Don’t hesitate to email, call, or text me. I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Come as you are. You don’t have to dress up or pretend like you have it all together. We will meet for 65 minutes and in that time we will sing some songs about God’s love, have an engaging teaching that will encourage and challenge you, and participate in prayer that inspires you.

A lot of our lives is spent doing the SAME things. After all, we have reoccurring responsibilities. Faithfulness is the term the Bible uses for this.

There comes a time when we are called to do the NEXT thing. This
is not a call to stop doing the regular things. Rather, it is a reminder that we don’t have to be limited by them. In fact, the
NEXT thing is possible because of faithfulness. You have faithfully prayed, served, and given generously. As a result our current facility is used three times on Sunday (and throughout the week) to connect people to - and help people grow in - God’s grace.

Every week we hear stories of people daring to hope again, finding freedom, and feeling loved and accepted. And if this was all God accomplished through us, we would be glad and grateful.

But with God there is always a NEXT. There are still individuals and families who have not been exposed to the grace of God. There are still people who have disconnected from faith and have not yet found their way back home. Since God is not done with them, He is not done with us.

Our mission is to provide a safe place for people to find authentic faith, risk real relationships and discover the future God has planned for them.

Our problem - we can’t provide a safe place if we are out of space.

Beginning on the first Sunday in October our church family will begin to take the NEXT step. We cannot do this alone. The faith and finances necessary for a project of this size will require each and every person to dare to pray bold prayers and boldly respond to God’s direction.

NEXT reminds us of God’s unfailing love and unwavering effort to reach each and every one.

NEXT reminds us that our dreams can be brighter than our memories.NEXT reminds us that the best is yet to come.
