SMALL GROUPS

DON’T DO LIFE ALONE

God didn’t make us to do this Christianity thing alone. It’s not just “Me and God – we got this.” God made us to walk with one another. It’s a sign of mature faith if we are walking with other believers – encouraging one another. And this isn’t just my opinion — The resounding theme when people talked about their groups this past season was how encouraged people were to have made connections with other people – to be able to get to know them and have people that pray for them and that they now know when they come on Sunday mornings

EXPLORING JESUS

Exploring Jesus is a group for those interested in authentic conversations about who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him. It is perfect for new believers or those who have questions about the foundations of our faith. This group will encourage vulnerability and provide resources to help you build a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus.

TAKE THE NEXT STEP

What will spring groups look like?
We will be using the resource “Emotionally Healthy Spirituality” which sounds like a bunch of words with a lot of syllables or it may sound like a feel-good thing with popular buzzwords. In reality, the time we will have in groups in this study is an invitation to a deeper and wider relationship with Jesus. It will also shape us to have emotional health combined with a contemplative spirituality. Doing this in small communities will only add to the richness of this experience.

Our Spring Groups kick off the week of February 26th — and meet 9 times over 10 weeks.

If you are in need of child care, we offer reimbursement options. It is accessible with the button below.

WHAT DO SMALL GROUPS DO?

GROW

The end goal of groups is to develop Christ followers who are growing in their understanding of God, and whose lives are a reflection of His character both inside and outside of group time.

ENCOURAGE

Groups encourage one another and call out the unique gifts that God placed in each person as we are formed into a community through fellowship.

CHALLENGE

Having knowledge of scripture is not enough to produce fruitful disciples of Jesus. Groups challenge each other to live out the practical in daily ways.

SUNDAYS @Second!

Sundays are about growing in faith in Jesus. Students begin in the auditorium for worship and are released after about 20 minutes to head to our lower level. Here we connect with new friends and have a non-pressured faith conversation. The experience all together lasts about 65 minutes and we hope you leave encouraged and challenged in your spiritual journey.

The first Sunday of each month, students will stay in the auditorium for the message.

WEDNESDAYS @Second!

Wednesdays are the most exciting night of the week! Every week a powerful and relevant message from scripture is preached, and students are given a chance to respond to the nights message.  Wednesdays alternate between small group nights (where students and volunteers connect by playing, learning and praying together) and worship nights (where our student led band, EMBERS, lead songs of worship and praise to Jesus).

Our messages are based out of the Bible, which we believe to be God-breathed and useful for our lives today. On Wednesday nights, we learn from engaging teaching, worship with our student team, take time to pray together or individually, and reflect on how we can become closer with our God. If you have never come, we encourage you to check it out!

My name is Steven Nichols and I am the Youth Director at Calvary Assembly! I am absolutely thrilled to be in this position and to be given the chance to work with your children and help lead them to all that God has planned for them.

I live in a neighborhood in Gates where my wife, Moriah, and I purchased our first home. When I am not actively involved in our youth  ministry, I throughly enjoy reading and training in martial arts. Moriah is an extremely gifted vocalist and piano player and can make any song sound like a billboard hit. I cannot. When we go out on dates together we both enjoy exploring the surrounding area looking for a restaurant we have not tried yet, searching for the best food our city has to offer. But for us, the best day is a simple and quiet one.

Although I am still working full time as an electrician for my father’s company, I want you to know I am available for you, for your son or daughter, and to help encourage our students towards the unique calling God has for their life! Don’t hesitate to email, call, or text me. I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Come as you are. You don’t have to dress up or pretend like you have it all together. We will meet for 65 minutes and in that time we will sing some songs about God’s love, have an engaging teaching that will encourage and challenge you, and participate in prayer that inspires you.

A lot of our lives is spent doing the SAME things. After all, we have reoccurring responsibilities. Faithfulness is the term the Bible uses for this.

There comes a time when we are called to do the NEXT thing. This
is not a call to stop doing the regular things. Rather, it is a reminder that we don’t have to be limited by them. In fact, the
NEXT thing is possible because of faithfulness. You have faithfully prayed, served, and given generously. As a result our current facility is used three times on Sunday (and throughout the week) to connect people to - and help people grow in - God’s grace.

Every week we hear stories of people daring to hope again, finding freedom, and feeling loved and accepted. And if this was all God accomplished through us, we would be glad and grateful.

But with God there is always a NEXT. There are still individuals and families who have not been exposed to the grace of God. There are still people who have disconnected from faith and have not yet found their way back home. Since God is not done with them, He is not done with us.

Our mission is to provide a safe place for people to find authentic faith, risk real relationships and discover the future God has planned for them.

Our problem - we can’t provide a safe place if we are out of space.

Beginning on the first Sunday in October our church family will begin to take the NEXT step. We cannot do this alone. The faith and finances necessary for a project of this size will require each and every person to dare to pray bold prayers and boldly respond to God’s direction.

NEXT reminds us of God’s unfailing love and unwavering effort to reach each and every one.

NEXT reminds us that our dreams can be brighter than our memories.NEXT reminds us that the best is yet to come.
