Our Pastor

Calvary Assembly first opened its doors in a small building on Marshall Road over 25 years ago. We’ve seen God’s faithfulness through the years as He has utilized what little our church has to offer in expanding His Kingdom in Rochester, New York. The mission of the church is to be a place where anyone- regardless of their age, history or experiences- can come and see that God is still faithful, and He is still good.

Pastor Bob has been serving as lead Pastor of Calvary Assembly for over 20 years. He believes that with a faithful God, the best is yet to come; not just for Calvary Assembly, but for Rochester as a community.

Sunday Service Times

Our address: 3429 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14624

We have two service times on Sunday morning: 9:00AM and 11:00AM.

FAQs

How long are services?

-Each service lasts just about one hour. We are very careful to honor your time, because we want you to know that we value you.

What do I wear?

-Wear whatever is comfortable! You may see people in t shirts and shorts, or dresses and button-up shirts. Jesus welcomes all people just as they are, and we think that’s a good idea!

Where should I park?

You can park in our upper lot entering off of Chili Ave or our lower lot entering off of Beaver Rd.

Where should I go once I get inside?

The first place you will want to stop by is the Welcome Center. There you’ll find some  volunteers who will answer any questions that you may have, as well as a gift for you as a thank you for joining us!

Where should I sit?

-We have a team of people waiting to help you find a seat! When you sit down, feel free to say hi to the person next to you- we bet they will say hi back!

What type of “feel” should I expect?

-As far as we’re concerned, you’re family to us. In the lobby you’ll see people having conversations and eating donuts. Grab a donut and some coffee and hang out- we want to have a conversation with you!

Hungry?

-Visit our Calvary Cafe located outside of the auditorium to pickup free fresh food and drinks! We serve free, local, Leaf and Bean coffee, as well as local Golden Harvest donuts, bagels, and fresh fruit.

Got Kids?

AdventureKids is designed for ages birth through 6th grade. Our Sunday mornings for kids are focused around depositing spiritual truths in kids in a fun and engaging way through Bible stories. AdventureKids are located in our Children’s Wing with clearly marked classrooms. We have a classroom for Deaf kids and CODAs during our 11am service. Contact our Children’s Pastor Steve Otto for details.

Sunday Mornings for Teens

Youth (7th-12th graders) will stay upstairs for worship and then head downstairs for a class that’s specialized just for them every Sunday except for the first of the month. We have a team of dedicated youth leaders that can’t wait to connect with your teen, and get them connected with other teenagers at our church!

Pretzels With The Pastors

New to Calvary Assembly? We’ve created a fun way to meet the ministry team, learn a little more about the church, and get connected. Join us the first of every month at 10:15AM between services for pretzels with the pastors. Click the link below to register!

SUNDAYS @Second!

Sundays are about growing in faith in Jesus. Students begin in the auditorium for worship and are released after about 20 minutes to head to our lower level. Here we connect with new friends and have a non-pressured faith conversation. The experience all together lasts about 65 minutes and we hope you leave encouraged and challenged in your spiritual journey.

The first Sunday of each month, students will stay in the auditorium for the message.

WEDNESDAYS @Second!

Wednesdays are the most exciting night of the week! Every week a powerful and relevant message from scripture is preached, and students are given a chance to respond to the nights message.  Wednesdays alternate between small group nights (where students and volunteers connect by playing, learning and praying together) and worship nights (where our student led band, EMBERS, lead songs of worship and praise to Jesus).

Our messages are based out of the Bible, which we believe to be God-breathed and useful for our lives today. On Wednesday nights, we learn from engaging teaching, worship with our student team, take time to pray together or individually, and reflect on how we can become closer with our God. If you have never come, we encourage you to check it out!

My name is Steven Nichols and I am the Youth Director at Calvary Assembly! I am absolutely thrilled to be in this position and to be given the chance to work with your children and help lead them to all that God has planned for them.

I live in a neighborhood in Gates where my wife, Moriah, and I purchased our first home. When I am not actively involved in our youth  ministry, I throughly enjoy reading and training in martial arts. Moriah is an extremely gifted vocalist and piano player and can make any song sound like a billboard hit. I cannot. When we go out on dates together we both enjoy exploring the surrounding area looking for a restaurant we have not tried yet, searching for the best food our city has to offer. But for us, the best day is a simple and quiet one.

Although I am still working full time as an electrician for my father’s company, I want you to know I am available for you, for your son or daughter, and to help encourage our students towards the unique calling God has for their life! Don’t hesitate to email, call, or text me. I am looking forward to getting to know you!

Come as you are. You don’t have to dress up or pretend like you have it all together. We will meet for 65 minutes and in that time we will sing some songs about God’s love, have an engaging teaching that will encourage and challenge you, and participate in prayer that inspires you.

A lot of our lives is spent doing the SAME things. After all, we have reoccurring responsibilities. Faithfulness is the term the Bible uses for this.

There comes a time when we are called to do the NEXT thing. This
is not a call to stop doing the regular things. Rather, it is a reminder that we don’t have to be limited by them. In fact, the
NEXT thing is possible because of faithfulness. You have faithfully prayed, served, and given generously. As a result our current facility is used three times on Sunday (and throughout the week) to connect people to - and help people grow in - God’s grace.

Every week we hear stories of people daring to hope again, finding freedom, and feeling loved and accepted. And if this was all God accomplished through us, we would be glad and grateful.

But with God there is always a NEXT. There are still individuals and families who have not been exposed to the grace of God. There are still people who have disconnected from faith and have not yet found their way back home. Since God is not done with them, He is not done with us.

Our mission is to provide a safe place for people to find authentic faith, risk real relationships and discover the future God has planned for them.

Our problem - we can’t provide a safe place if we are out of space.

Beginning on the first Sunday in October our church family will begin to take the NEXT step. We cannot do this alone. The faith and finances necessary for a project of this size will require each and every person to dare to pray bold prayers and boldly respond to God’s direction.

NEXT reminds us of God’s unfailing love and unwavering effort to reach each and every one.

NEXT reminds us that our dreams can be brighter than our memories.NEXT reminds us that the best is yet to come.
